Ordre del Cister: General Procurator
Lluc Torcal de Sirera is the General Procurator of the Cistercian Order and was Prior of the Poblet Monastery from 2007 to 2016. He was born in Sant Cugat del Vallès in 1971. In August 1995 he entered the convent of Poblet, where on January 26, 1996 he became accustomed as a novice. A year later he did the simple work and on July 11, the anniversary of the year 2000, he made solemn profession before Abbot Josep Alegre in Vilas. On January 8, 2006, he was ordained a deacon by the Archbishop of Tarragona, Jaume Pujol de Balcells, and on June 3, 2007, he was ordained a priest. He has a degree in science from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1994), a doctorate in philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (2013) and a degree in theology from the Pontifical University of the Angelicum of Saint Thomas Aquinas (2004). ) . He is academically responsible for the monastic training courses at the Colegio de San Bernardo in Rome and responsible for studying the school structure of the convent of Santa María de Poblet. Member of the STOQ project (Science, Theology and The Ontological Quest), where he works with the philosophical interpretation of quantum mechanics. Contributor to the magazines Poblet (where he directs the sections Science and Christian Faith), Liturgy and Spirituality and Questions of Christian Life and has published several articles of a scientific nature in the volume of the STOQ series. He is president of the PNIN (Poblet Natural Park of National Interest). In 2015 he was elected new Procurator of the Order of the General Chapter of the Cistercian Order. The procurator of the order is the one who manages and administers the affairs of each congregation of the order before the Holy See, and collaborates closely with the abbot general in the government of the Cistercian order. He was Prior of Poblet from 2007 to 2016, when Rafel Barruè succeeded him in Broch and Torcal took charge of the monastery's Cosmos project.
