Luis Bassat is one of the most prestigious advertising experts in Spain, with great international recognition. He has a broad background in different fields: humanities, business administration, social sciences and, of course, advertising. In his long and intense career, his role in the organization of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Barcelona '92 Olympic Games stands out.
Luis Bassat has held, among others, the positions of president of the WPP Iberia Group and has been a member of the board of directors of Ogilvy Worldwide and Telefónica Publicitat i Informació.
He has received from His Majesty the King the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit, awarded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, being the highest civilian decoration awarded in Spain. In 2021, Lluis Bassat was named Doctor Honoris Causa by the UVIC - UCC (Universitat Vic - Universitat Central de Catalunya), for being considered "one of the fathers of communication in the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st", with "a great capacity entrepreneur". which manifests itself both in the advertising field and in the cultural, sporting, social and intellectual fields.
He has won more than 400 national and international advertising awards, highlighting the "Best Spanish Advertiser of the 20th Century" award from El Publicista magazine, or his election as "The Best Latin American Advertiser of the 20th Century" by the Latin American Association of Advertising agencies. Currently, Lluis Bassat devotes much of his free time as president of the Carmen & Lluís Bassat Private Foundation, to whom he allocates the resources he generates with his talks, classes and conferences. The main activities of the Foundation are structured around five main objectives: promoting intercultural education, helping groups with problems or disabilities, support to eradicate poverty, promoting the teaching of advertising communication and promoting art contemporary
Throughout his professional career, Lluis Bassat has given nearly 2,000 conferences all over the world, to share the knowledge and strategies that have led him to be a successful publicist.
